William Castleman was the land agent / steward who ran the Stalbridge Estate from around 1813 until 1844 for the Marquis of Anglesey who inherited the Estate in 1812.

He was mostly an absentee landlord who used William Castleman to manage his affairs and keep him informed.

Almost every property in Stalbridge was owned by the Estate, and paid rent to the Marquis.

This period included the final decision to demolish Stalbridge House; and we will learn much about the people and social conditions of the time at this talk.
