A hide was a medieval unit of land measurement.

Originally, a hide was associated with the amount of land considered sufficient to support one household, although the actual area varied considerably according to local conditions.

The hide was also used as a basis for taxation and assessment in Anglo-Saxon and medieval England.

Because land productivity differed between regions, hides cannot be converted into a fixed modern acreage.
