A traditional unit of length equal to 5½ yards and used in measuring land.

A rod is a traditional English measurement of length.

One rod equals 5½ yards or 16½ feet. It was commonly used in land measurement and was an important part of the relationship between older measurements such as furlongs and acres.

Historical land measurements should always be interpreted within their local context, as medieval and early modern usage could vary.
