A narrow parcel of agricultural land forming part of an open-field system.

A strip was a narrow parcel of land cultivated by an individual tenant within an open-field system.

Instead of holding one continuous farm, many medieval tenants held several scattered strips across different fields. This arrangement allowed access to land of varying quality and reflected the communal organisation of agriculture.

Strips were usually cultivated according to local custom and formed part of a wider system of shared farming practices.
